Company Overview

QSAC is an award winning non-profit organization dedicated to providing services to persons with autism spectrum disorder throughout New York City and Long Island.

QSAC was established in 1978 by a group of parents who were concerned about the lack of services available for their loved ones with autism. These parents strongly believed that people with autism were capable of living at home and participating in normal social activities, forming relationships, maintaining employment and becoming productive members of the community. The founders of QSAC were determined to serve the needs of their children, and those that followed, by providing a cost-effective, community-based alternative to life long institutionalization. Through their commitment and energy, QSAC was born.

Today, QSAC provides direct services to more than 800 individuals with autism. QSAC's services range from Early Intervention and Preschool Programs for young children to Day Programs and Residential Services for adults. QSAC also provides educational and support services to family members and caregivers of persons with autism. All of the services provided by QSAC are geared towards providing consumers with a more independent, productive, and fulfilled life.

QSAC receives funding from the NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, the NYC Department of Public Health, the NYS Department of Health, the New York State Education Department, the NYC Department of Education and Medicaid. Additional funding is also obtained through corporations, foundations, and individuals. However, due to funding insufficiencies, QSAC simply cannot provide services to all of the families in need. QSAC currently has a long waiting list of families requesting services.

QSAC has received the 2000 Mental Hygiene Services Award for Excellence from NYC, a Citation of Honor from the Queens Borough President for its commitment to the developmentally disabled, and a Certificate of Recognition from the Town of Hempstead for significant contributions to individuals with autism and their families.
