Position Highlights A full-time position is available in the School of Plant Sciences at the University of Arizona. This position will be funded through competitive grants, thus year-to-year continuation will be contingent upon satisfactory job performance and the availability of external funds. The individual in this position will provide professional research assistance for an applied research program focused on integrated disease management of economically important crop diseases in Arizona. This position offers the opportunity to be a part of a dynamic research team performing disease diagnosis and pathogen detection, developing sustainable control strategies for soilborne and foliar diseases on grapevines, fruit nut trees, and other plants. Collaborating with other lab team members, you will further the basic understanding of crop diseases so that management efforts are more effective and efficient. The research is multifaceted and includes work in the laboratory, greenhouse, and sometimes the field. On a day-to-day basis, this will involve maintenance of a collection of fungal and bacterial isolates; coordination of greenhouse and growth chamber studies to understand pathogen and disease reactions to environmental conditions; coordination of phenotyping of plant germplasm for disease resistance; overseeing of greenhouse operations and production of plant materials; detection of pathogens by PCR and other assays; and deployment of cultural and chemical control treatments in greenhouse, growth chamber, and field studies. You will work closely with other scientists and technicians and assist undergraduate students to plan and conduct experiments.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; retirement plans; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
