GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing leadership, management and oversight for service and sales performance of the commercial bankers. This leadership position is responsible for implementing strategies and products, processes improvements, recruiting and training, service delivery and establishing and monitoring goals to achieve production objectives, and growth of Vantage West's market share.

This role is also responsible for developing effective leaders and creating a positive work environment where employees feel valued and want to give their best. Participates in the development of Business strategy, goals, and performance measures, and ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and credit union policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related major or equivalent work experience
  • 10 years in progressive commercial banking experience
    • to include 5 years management or supervisory role
  • Candidate must be located in Tucson, AZ or be able to relocate upon starting employment

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT:

This job requires the employee to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Infrequent lifting up to 25 lbs. Must be able to work occasional Saturdays. Travel may be necessary throughout Arizona, primarily Pima, Pinal, Cochise, and Maricopa Counties.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must comply with all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). Must be able to obtain license through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES AND TASKS:

  1. Develops and implements overall Business Banking objectives to grow and retain the credit unions' relationships and deposits. Partners with senior management to develop and execute specific market strategies to maintain current business and achieve growth targets. Executive level responsibility for achieving sales goals related to business lending and deposit products and services.
  2. Applies high performance management practices in leading an engaged workforce in order to effectively leverage the full potential and talent of the function. Provide a structural and consistent approach to ensure that individual development plans are in place, performance management is consistent, performance management process is respected and followed, and coaching and feedback are provided on a regular and dynamic basis.
  3. Develops and maintains a high degree of visibility in the marketplace, along with developing relationships with real estate professionals, business owners, community groups, business functions, and other business referral sources.
  4. Maintains a dynamic and cooperative relationship with the other managers in the Credit Union as well as with branch, contact center, and the credit union's affiliates, to develop and maintain smooth operational transitions.
  5. Supports partnership and training with the Credit Union's Branch system and the Business Bankers to assure continuity in delivery of the Credit Union's loan and deposit products to achieve the business member's short- and long-term financial goals.
  6. Accountable for recruiting, building, developing and retaining a high performing team. Exercises leadership around HR management issues and acts appropriately and with a sense of urgency. Capture, analyze, and understand the internal environment, team dynamics, and talent capabilities to address organizational refinement, agility and growth.
  7. Conducts regular meeting with Bankers to communicate information, discuss problems, training staff and provide a forum for discussion.
  8. Ensures overall safety and soundness of loan portfolio, with the ability to identify and develop long term strategies to include initiatives such as early identification of problem credit accounts and proper action on potential or existing problem accounts to protect Vantage West interests, portfolio mix, concentration mix, growth strategies, new product development and market penetration.
  9. Assists the commercial banker's with portfolio management, retention of the deposit & loan portfolio and generating new product relationships from new and existing business members through cross-selling of credit union banking products and services. Ability to perform and assist the commercial bankers with basic financial analysis in the areas of credit, cash flow and collateral.
  10. Assists bankers in developing marketing and sales strategies for new and existing business. Oversees processes to ensure efforts meet defined objectives, follow a structured timeline, and members loans & deposits close on time. Supervises and coaches on the proper behaviors, sales techniques, service expectations and compliance guidelines.
  11. Understands real estate appraisals, title reports, and real estate transactions. Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations through continuous departmental training.
  12. Demonstrates leadership characteristics, organizational skills and experience working in a fast paced extremely productive origination environment.
  13. Makes decisions on loans in conformity with all Credit Union policies, procedures, and Credit Union underwriting guidelines. Stay up to date on all required loan documents, systems, credit reports, and related lending and regulatory requirements. Ensures operating procedures for Business Banking are in compliance with approved policies and procedures of the credit union and with applicable regulations.
  14. Communicates regularly and in a timely manner with the Chief, Business & Consumer Banking concerning lead and application volumes, processing and underwriting turn times, closing capacity, and post-closing and delivery time frames.
  15. Works with the Business Analytics Team to evaluate current business processes and implements process improvements that results in improved communication, member service, quality of work, and maximize operational effectiveness.
  16. Implements approved deposit & loan products and promotions to meet the membership's needs and stimulate revenue growth.
  17. Communicates relevant information about lending, products, and promotions are communicated to all employees and management of the credit union.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary range is $142,814.60-$199,940.44. Final salary is dependent on a candidate's experience and qualifications.
