The Indigenous Resilience Center in Arizona Institute for Resilience at the University of Arizona is seeking a Grants and Project Coordinator (Grant & Contract Administrator II) to join its work with Native American and Indigenous Communities. The mission of IRes is to center Indigenous ways of knowing into co-designed environmental solutions and training the next generation of community leaders. The Grants and Project Coordinator would provide training to tribes that is focused on identifying grants, determining eligibility, and assist in grant writing process with tribal partners, (budget proposals, evaluation, and assessment).The Grants and Project Coordinator will also provide professional support and training on successful grant awards with project partners.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Work with the IRes manager to coordinate, administer, and evaluate community mini-grants focused in Native American climate adaptation, environmental resilience, and serve as the primary contact for community based organizations, non-profits, grass roots organizations, and tribal colleges and universities. This also includes promoting grant opportunities in person and through outreach. Will hold training sessions and one on one opportunities to assist Tribes in building their grant writing capabilities.
  • Create, maintain, and administer a database of potential funding opportunities for tribes from federal, state and local agencies, non-profit organizations, and foundations that relate back to IRes' mission, vision, and goals; assist in supporting tribal partners through the grant writing process.
  • Serve as the primary contact and liaise with mini grant awardees and successful awards (in Native American communities) in post-award management for reporting purposes to funding agencies set forth in criteria. This includes compiling and analyzing data and ensuring deliverables are met.
  • Coordinate efforts for reporting to the Waverley Street Foundation and assist the Indigenous Resilience Center in a administrative tasks to ensure successful implementation of the project, including but not limited to: working with UArizona Sponsored Projects, Grants and Contracts, UArizona Business offices, purchasing, reconciliation, reimbursements, event coordination, communication, and outreach and travel.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Knowledge of identifying, applying for, and managing funding opportunities from federal agencies, state and local governments Demonstrated grant writing experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally with different groups/individuals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in grant writing and reporting.
  • Experience with database development and cultural competency in working with tribes is necessary for the incumbent to be successful.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience engaging or outreach to Native American communities
  • Experience with tribal sovereignty, self-determination and traditional knowledges
  • Experience working with Native American community members and understanding of Tribal Consultation Process.
  • Experience training other individuals.
  • Demonstrated grant writing experience.
